Been a While

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 10:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Yes I know. I haven't been on here in a long time. I'm gonna try to be a bit more active on the site. At least this time I actually have some stuff to talk about. I've had a bunch of stuff going on in my life lately. The main reason why I haven't been on here a lot is because I've been caught up in writing columns for the school newspaper. 10th grade is keeping me really busy this year. Between homework, projects, and columns, there really isn't much room for anything else. Music class is going better. I'm actually good at the saxophone now. It's proving to be a lot better than art class. Another thing that's been keeping me occupied is my personal project that's due in May. I have all year to do it, almost. I decided to do a comedy show since it's my career of choice. I've already written a bunch of material. The G-rated stuff is in a notebook and the R-rated stuff is stored in my brain until I get to a point where performing it will cause laughs instead of dropped jaws. Until next time.

Two Years/Back to School Again

Posted on September 5, 2011 at 3:40 PM Comments comments (0)

Today isn't the official birthday of ValkyriePower. The actual birthday is August 25th - the date of my last blog entry. Not a lot has changed between last year and this one in terms of the site. I think it's safe to say that it's no longer under construction. Meanwhile, I wen't back to school last Thursday. The 10th grade seems fine so far, except for music class. I picked it because I was always failing art because I didn't know how to produce good visual artwork, but music class isn't proving to be that much better. I'm sure I'll be good at it, I just don't think it'll be a good experience for me. I guess that's all for now. Until next time.

I need to get back in the swing of things. Anyway times have been weird lately. There was an earthquake 2 days ago all across the east coast and some parts further inland like Pittsburgh where I live. I was at the mall shopping when it happened. The epicenter was in Virginia where some of my family lives. My aunt was working at the time and her building had to be evacuated. New York just can't seem to get a break. The earthquake hit them as well and now there's a hurricane headed up there. A lot of natural disasters have been happening in weird places lately. The east coast doesn't usually get hurricanes and certainly not earthquakes. It's been a while since California had one. We've been getting hit with thunderstorms lately. There was a real bad one last week and another one last night that woke me up. That one wasn't as bad, though. I had to get a new phone recently because I was having too many problems with my old one. The new one is a lot better. Its a Motorola Flipside and I really don't understand the name since it's a slide phone. This was a really long summer vacation for me. I kinda wanna go back but at the same time, I don't because the only thing good about school is that first week. I don't know if I'm ready to stick it out for another 10 months. Catching Up

I don't know why I didn't do this earlier. I guess I've been having too much fun, what with school being out and all, and with the connection problems I've been having with my laptop. But whatever. I'm back and I'm not dead, and that hopefully an intermission this long won't happen again.

Another Basic Update

So it's been a while. I lot of things have happend since Spring Break came and went. Most notably, I had a birthday on April 30, five days after school started again. It wasn't anything big. We didn't sing happy birthday, but I didn't really want to. I just got presents and that was the end of it. We didn't have cake, but then again, I didn't want any. I just wanted money and gifts (no i'm not spoiled) I'm done with VideoMarketplace. I didn't delete it because when you use Blogger, they keep all the accounts so no one can delete one. So I'll just stop using it. I realized I didn't need it. It was going nowhere. Right now I'm working on a project for Civics class. It's a service project and me and a few of my friends decided that donating food was the easiest thing we could do for the project. We're just about done, but we needed 10 hours total. At this point we only have six and a half. What sucks is that the place we're donating to is closed Saturdays and Sundays, and the final project is due on Monday. So there's really not much we can do at this point. This has been Another Basic Update with Jordan McDonald.

Spring Break

Posted on April 17, 2011 at 12:06 AM Comments comments (0)

It's a nice feeling knowing you don't have to go to school for 2 months, but sometimes you have to settle for 10 days, and that's what I'm doing now. At least it's finally warm again. I kicked off Spring Break with some clothes shopping and dining out. Downtown Pittsburgh is really nice when it's 70 degrees out. It's nice in winter too but in a different way. In the winter, downtown just looks nice, it never feels nice. When it's warm, you can have it both ways. I think every city is like that. This Spring Break won't be much, though. Because I have a civics project to do and some tech work that's due the day I come back. I hate high school.

Point A to Point B

Webs.com isn't great for everything. So I moved VideoMarketplace to Blogger. Don't worry, ValkyriePower isn't going anywhere. The video html on Webs.com isn't great and apperantly Blogger is better. With Webs there wouldn't be any blog page numbers. So the homepage would basically go on forever. Blogger doesn't have that problem. So VideoMarketplace is gonna stay there. My Internet was down earlier and still kinda is. So I was a little late on this. I don't think there will be a Facebook fan page for it. I don't feel like doing all that work. It's going the the Links page, though.

Tuesday Morning Shittiness

Posted on March 15, 2011 at 6:02 PM Comments comments (0)

Today goes on my list of worst days ever.  Today, tomorrow, and Thursday, I'm going to start school late since the Juniors are testing. So instead of school starting at 8:00, it'll start at 11:35. So this morning I was waiting for my bus in the cold and rain for like an hour. I eventually got tired of waiting so I called my nana, she called the school, and they seemingly sent a bus. The only problem is that the bus they sent never came either. So I walked home after waiting for like 2 hours in total and in short I got to stay home. If the bus never picks me up, it's a legal abscense from school. Good news for me. I have 2 thoeries on why my bus never came: either my bus driver forgot that he had to pick us up late (since the seniors went to school at the regular time), or he decided to wait until the morning to fix damage on the bus because of the fact that we were sideswiped yesterday by another school bus. I just hope he remembers tomorrow.

Assorted Useless Information

I meant to post this on Friday because that's when it happened, but the site was down for a time. So basically, I was in gym class and there was a fire drill (this next part makes it clear that my school doesn't care what we wear when it's 30 degrees outside). In a normal fire drill everyone in the building has to leave, but in my case it was totally different because I was in gym class and I had on shorts and a t-shirt. At first it was just a regular fire drill, but after we went back in they realized that it wasn't a drill (this next part makes it clear that I was wrong). There was an actual fire. Well, it wasn't really a fire, it was more like a leak that landed on a fire alarm and I guess it caused a spark. Fire trucks came and everything while we were standing outside for at least thirty minutes altogether. And afterwards, I had a test to take. Everyone acted like nothing happened. In other news: My uncle came over and he helped me and my nana get rid of some furniture. The only problem is that now our living room is empty and I don't think we'll get new furniture anytime soon. My birthday is coming up soon and I was hoping to get a guitar and a PS3 but I'll scratch the guitar because I want to wait until I get lessons, plus I already have one. I want a PS3 because the online is free and it's easier to hook up for free than wait for my nana to decide to give me Xbox Live. My chances of going to Chicago are almost zero. Actually I guess you could say that they ARE zero. My nana might be going to Kansas City in the summer and she's not bringing me. Instead, she's leaving me with my least favorite aunt. So basically it's a no-win situation for me. If she's going to Kansas City, Kansas then I'm fine with it, but if she's going to the Missouri side, then I wanna go. But my chances of that are zero as well.

Another Basic Update

I'm starting to do these a lot more often. I guess I've just run out of things to say. Anyways, I've been really sick lately. I'm only just now getting better. I had to stay home from school Monday because I still hadn't recovered. Basically I had a cold/flu and a fever at the same time. I had a sore throat, my bones hurt, I was weak, and I was very tired from Friday to Monday. When I got home Friday all I did was take a series of naps before mysteriously but obviously waking up at 5:00am. I didn't eat until Saturday afternoon, then it was back to sleep for me until Sunday when I started to get better, then Monday where all I had left was a sore throat. Today's Wednesday and none of it's left. In other news, I recently started listening to this punk rock band called Anti Flag. They're from Pittsburgh like me and they're really good. They're older than I thought and I can't believe I hadn't heard of these guys earlier. They've been together for a really long time and they share the same message and morals that a lot of punk bands do but I think they preach it a lot more than anyone. They may be punk but they're what I like to call: "positive punk". They're anti violence, war, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. Normally I don't listen to positive music because I really don't care. People can think what they want. I guess its the singing and awesome guitar playing that make up for it. I agree with what these guys preach, but its the fact that they preach it that bothers me. But anyway, I better end this. This has been another Basic Update with Jordan McDonald

Chicago

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 5:54 PM Comments comments (0)

Here we go again. Another one of these super expensive field trips that you just feel compelled to go on only because you want the opportunity to say "I've been there". This one's different, though. Chicago's gonna be fun. I kinda got the memo a little early though. I'm leaving in May and I found out in January. Weird. Chicago's a great city but the skyline alone is reason enough for me to go. And for once, there's no amusement park. Well, this is actually the second time there hasn't been an amusement park included. New York didn't have one either. But Baltimore and Cincinnati did. It gets old after a while. I can't help but wonder: If I'm going to Chicago this year, where am I going for my senior year?

Mid-Terms Over

Posted on February 1, 2011 at 7:57 PM Comments comments (0)

I'm finished with my mid-terms. had an extra 2 days on the weekend. Today's the last day. Mid-terms weren't that stressful. They were like any other big test. They took 2 days and were fairly easy. Except for French. Half of the French test was really stressful. The kind of stuff I'd never learned. I'm just glad it's over. Now it's just business as usual until finals in a few months.

Returning

Posted on January 24, 2011 at 3:48 PM Comments comments (0)

I guess you could call this a Basic Update. I just didn't call it that because it would look weird with 2 blog entries with the same title back-to-back. Anyway, my Internet's been down for a while and I just got it to work the other day. I had to reset my laptop for factory condition. If only I had thought of that earlier. Anyway, I've got mid-terms coming up this week and I haven't even started studying yet. I think I'll start tomorrow. I'm still talking to my nana about where we'll go for Spring Break. She wants to go to Niagara Falls. If there's anywhere I wanna go in Canada, it's Toronto. If we can't go to Toronto, New York's my fail safe. All I really want right now is warm air, longer days, and an ever-shortening school year.

Another Basic Update

Today was kind of a first. They cancelled school. Before it was just 2-hour delays every blue moon (if I was lucky). There's snow all over. I think the only reason they cancelled school is because we don't really have a superintendent right now. He transferred before Christmas. If he hadn't left I'd be in school right now. Lately I've been trying to figure out where to go with my second website. It's pretty boring right now. You go there, you watch videos, then you leave. And maybe - if I'm lucky - you leave feedback. It should be more than that, though. I'm sure I'll figure something out. In the meantime I guess I'll....try to figure something out. This has been another basic update with Jordan McDonald

Happy New Year!

Posted on January 1, 2011 at 9:06 PM Comments comments (0)

2010 has left us, but that can be a good thing. Mainly because 2011 is going to have the greatest movies and video games ever, but also because 2010 was getting kind of old (there is definitely too much time in a year - most of the time anyways). The strange thing is that I wasn't as excited this time. I don't know why. Maybe because my nana wouldn't stop talking about Dick Clark.

Side Project

Posted on December 26, 2010 at 4:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Today I made another website. It's called VideoMarketplace. It's where I review videos that are either sent in or found my me. The reason I did it is because if I tried to do that here it would just blur together with everything else. Also, it doesn't even come close to having what ValkyriePower has. That was on purpose. This is because VideoMarketplace is strictly video reviews. Here, there's no purpose. So it makes sense to put up games and chat rooms. It's not the same thing with VideoMarketplace. You know the deal. I'll put it up in the Links page in a few minutes. Just pretend it's the same as ValkyriePower....

Intermission

I hope everyone is having a merry Christmas! I'm writing this from my new Acer laptop. My last entry was from the Toshiba that I had before. It had some problems. It got a blue screen the day after I got the new charger for it. That was about a month ago. It's behind me now. Christmas is going real good. I got a new laptop, some clothes, some video games, and other stuff. I'm spending time with my family now and I hope everyone does the same. Merry Christmas!
